What a stylish bike. My 3 year old diva loves it. It doesn't it tip over on the turns. It has real rubber wheels which make it easier and more comfortable to ride. My little girl has long legs, reaching the petals could be an issue for a shorter child but the seat is adjustable. I purchased this bike because I wanted my daughter to be able to ride a bike and feel confident about it. We have a regular bike with training wheels on it, but it's a bit big for her still. It was a hand-me-down. This bike lets her ride on her own without a parent to be right next to her hunched over to make sure she isn't going to fall and helping her pedal and steer. Both bikes we require helmet and pads. She's been wearing them since she was 2 to ride her other bike. The seat on the Schwinn is adjustible and is great for those that are shorter and will allow ua to move the seat as she grows. Her center of gravity is lower so being a concerned mother I don't have to worry about as many falls that could be worse from being higher up on her other bike. The bike was very easy to assemble and arrived quickly. The box wasn't as descrete as I thought it would be so I had to hide it to suprise her for her third birthday. I had looked at this bike before for her secound birthday and only found it retailing for $125, prices had come way down in a year! I ordered the blue one hoping it would be able to be used in the future being a more neutral color for a boy or a girl. I really liked the sparkly pink one and the silver one would have been cool too, but where priced higher. The lowest I told someone had seen was the red one from Target for 60 some dollars.

That day we gave her her new bike she rode it all around one of the smaller loops in our subdivision. It may have taken us a while with all her stopping and going on her own, but we made it. Since that night we've been out several times for rides. The most recent ride we also rode with her. This is a bit more difficult being she was going slower and harder to encourage her to keep pedaling, but we made it. My only suggestion would be to get a bike flag for it. I bought this for my 2 year old son. Intially I thought he would be too big and/or potentially quickly outgrow the trike based on other reviews, however once we put it together I realized quite the opposite. He can barely reach the pedals now at 2.5 (he weights 31 lbs), so sadly he hasn't quite broken it in yet. He does however LOVE it and will roll it around our neighborhood. I don't doubt this will get lots of use next spring!

Basics on the trike: Made well and very study (however I do not recommend anyone other than a smaller child standing on the wooden back as it would not support the weight). We didn't have any problems putting it together, nor did we notice any damage to any of the peices. As far as the quality- this trike offers a wooden back deck with the brand burned in, study plastic seat with available adjustments, real rubber tires, leather tassels on the handlebars, and my son's favorite- a horn. Thus far we have noticed any problems with any parts or the trike as a whole. We ordered and received our delivery within a week. And so far, we've received lots of compliments. We ordered the red and the picture is very accurate on the color.


I would recommend this to a friend and plan on putting back for our daughter once our son outgrows it!

I bought this for my 2 year old son for Christmas. The seat cracked when I tightened the bolt to install it. The front tire was not round, so that as soon as I aired it up, the sidewall popped out of the rim for about 6 inches, creating a giant bulge in the tire.

Schwinn sent me a new tire--with exactly the same problem.

The back tires also do it. They recommend 35 PSI, but they pop off the rims at 20 PSI. It's very frustrating, particularly because both tires have slow leaks, so I need to air them up every couple of days.

After 10 months, the wood back step is already faded, cracked and weather worn, despite my having applied 2 coats of urethane.

Definitely a cool trike. Got it for my son's 2nd birthday and he initially had trouble reaching the pedals (and he's a tall guy - at the 90th percentile for height), but enjoyed pushing it with his feet on the ground. Now that he is three, I've observed that he does have an easier time pedaling other trikes - I'm not sure if it is the air tires or the "low rider" build of this trike, with the pedals more out in from of him rather than under his body. I like that it is low and hard to tump over. It has put up with some abuse and still looks great! Tires seem to slowly leak air requiring fillups every few weeks.
