I searched around to find this bike in stores so I could see its size and weight, but couldn't find it anywhere in my area. My only complaint about the bike is its size and weight. It is bigger than I imagined and very heavy to carry or lift anywhere. This trike totally rocks. Our daughter is 3 and we have 3 trikes. One is a radio flyer folding trike. It was not a great success. Tips very easily and is very slow when she is riding it. It is also now too small. We also have a fisher price rock, roll and ride trike. That one is very good, but we have used it so much the wheel slips when she is peddling and it is all plastic, so you have to be careful going up driveways that are uneven to the road etc etc. After reading the reviews for the schwinn trike I just knew we had to try it. We were going to get her a two wheel bike with training wheels, but they are so heavy and we have a 7 month old baby and we go for hour long walks where she rides. I can put this trike on top of my chariot stroller if she wants to sit. She can fly on this trike, even though it is a bit heavy, but all kids bikes are heavy. Adults comment on how cool it is. All in all this is a great purchase. Just as a note though, she wears a a size 5 in clothes and the seat is the furthest back that it can be. It will be too small next year for sure. I bought this trike for my 2 year old son for basically two reasons: It's not plastic and It's beautiful. We just received it and assembled it a week ago and while assembling it(Which took no time at all) i did notice there were some deep scratches on the metal tubes that took some of the paint off, there were also minor dings that weren't really noticeable unless you were looking for them. The tires...well, that was my biggest fear considering the reviews. But I was pleasantly surprised when i opened the box and all three tires were properly inflated and they didn't look like they were bad quality rubber, Maybe schwinn has become aware of the issue with the tires and is fixing it? Poor build quality. Bearings are dry out of the box, had to repack them with grease to silence terrible grinding noises. While doing that found that one one of the front bearing housings had stripped threads, a safety issue as it weakens front wheel attachment to the fork. Tires don't center properly on the rims but thankfully no spoke induced flats so far as others reported. I ordered the red Schwinn retro-roadster trike for my son's 2nd birthday. We were disappointed to see a scuff in the paint all the way down to the metal on the underside of the frame under the seat -- probably happened during shipping from CHINA. Overall the quality is pretty good, from the real, inflatable rubber tires that give a smooth ride to the wooden deck on the back, where my son likes to ride his sippy cup and his stuffed tiger (looks like I need to invest in a basket for the deck). My husband didn't have any trouble assembling it, but we noted that it is virtually impossible to get the steering column/handle bar joint really tight -- even after a 2nd tightening, there is play in the joint, and the handle bar to me seems wobbly. This is probably because the cuff is made of plastic instead of metal, clearly a case of "planned obsolescence." I personally would rather have paid $10 or so more and gotten a real metal cuff that would hold more tension on the joint. My son is proportionally large for his age (overall in both height and corresponding weight -- wears 3T and 4T clothes) and can reach the pedals if we adjust the seat forward, but he doesn't quite "get it" yet with the pedaling thing and tools around Flintstones-style for now. Overall, I would recommend this adorable trike so long as the buyer isn't expecting the same level of craftsmanship that I was expecting, given my first bicycle in the late 70s/early 80s was a beautiful blue Schwinn that lasted for many years thanks to solid construction and components.
