This trike totally rocks. Our daughter is 3 and we have 3 trikes. One is a radio flyer folding trike. It was not a great success. Tips very easily and is very slow when she is riding it. It is also now too small. We also have a fisher price rock, roll and ride trike. While doing that found that one one of the front bearing housings had stripped threads, a safety issue as it weakens front wheel attachment to the fork. We were disappointed to see a scuff in the paint all the way down to the metal on the underside of the frame under the seat -- probably happened during shipping from CHINA. Overall the quality is pretty good, from the real, inflatable rubber tires that give a smooth ride to the wooden deck on the back, where my son likes to ride his sippy cup and his stuffed tiger (looks like I need to invest in a basket for the deck). My husband didn't have any trouble assembling it, but we noted that it is virtually impossible to get the steering column/handle bar joint really tight -- even after a 2nd tightening, there is play in the joint, and the handle bar to me seems wobbly. This is probably because the cuff is made of plastic instead of metal, clearly a case of "planned obsolescence." I personally would rather have paid $10 or so more and gotten a real metal cuff that would hold more tension on the joint. My son is proportionally large for his age (overall in both height and corresponding weight -- wears 3T and 4T clothes) and can reach the pedals if we adjust the seat forward, but he doesn't quite "get it" yet with the pedaling thing and tools around Flintstones-style for now. Overall, I would recommend this adorable trike so long as the buyer isn't expecting the same level of craftsmanship that I was expecting, given my first bicycle in the late 70s/early 80s was a beautiful blue Schwinn that lasted for many years thanks to solid construction and components. Other reviews here say it well, but let me say it my own way. My wife and I were recently visiting our 2.5 year old granddaughter. One big issue is that many trikes just won't work for too small a child, and this child is only 5th percentile, but very busy and happy. We ordered this for her when he had only a few days left on our trip, and it arrived in 2 days with standard shipping.

Schwinn has been through its ups and downs, so I was a bit worried about quality, but it was very well built, with pneumatic tires. One should have a bike pump handy to keep them pumped up occasionally. The seat has a number of positions to accommodate children of different heights. The position farthest to the front was mildly tricky, as the curve of the frame made it difficult, but it wasn't that hard to do. We're talking steel and sturdy plastic seat here, not the flimsy stuff we saw other trikes made with.

There is the rear deck for a child to push on, etc., and that's plywood. It creaked a bit scarily when I put my weight on it at one time, but it stayed intact.

Other trikes easily tip. This one would take a lot of effort to tip, but just the same, a helmet is the rule.

Our granddaughter loves her "bike." She still hasn't quite figured out how to use the pedals, but she pushes herself along the ground and enjoys it. The only negative is that the trike is not compact. It will not fit in a Toyota Corolla's trunk, but has to go in a front seat. The handlebar could be removed to make the fit happen, but that's a bit of work.

I bought one red trike for my first grandson who lives in Gibraltar. We took it on the airplane and assembled it when we arrived. Nice wide stance makes this virtually impossible to tip over. Construction is of high quality and the air tires make the ride nice and smooth. The only problem I experienced was when inserting the front fork assembly through the frame there was a lot of play. I realized that this could not be right and was going to remedy the situation but could no find a spacer to fit over the fork assembly and fill the gap. I then called Pacific Cyle who is the manufacturer and who's number is in the assembly manual about the situation. They have remedied the problem with a nylon bushing which slips onto the top and bottom of the fork assembly which they immediately mailed to me and it fixed the problem. Don't be alarmed as the ones manufactured after they realized the problem come with the bushings inserted in the gooseneck of the trike. I found this out when I ordered a blue trike for my 2nd grandson, even though he is not ready for it yet we will take it abroud when we make our next European trip to Gibraltar. I bought this tricycle for my daughter's second birthday. She loves the tricycle and it has a beautiful design. Concerns: This tricycle is probably more appropriate as a gift to 2.5 - 3 year old. My daughter is tall for her age and at 2.5 years old she can just now reach the pedals to adequately propel the tricycle, and this is with the seat moved forward to the closest setting. The handle bars require constant tighting as the crimp and bolt that is supposed to hold the handle bars in place works loose frequently. One of the rear wheels has a very slightly bent rim that causes the one of the rear wheels to wobble a little. I have not experienced any air leakage from the tires like some of the other folks rating this tricycle. Overall I am pleased with the tricycle but am a little disappointed in the quality. This trike has RUSTED. This trike was purchased for our 2 year old for her birthday. It spent the first 3 months or so in the house and now it is outside under the covered patio. I can't believe the amount of rust it has accumulated in 8 months. Bikes are supposed to be outside, and we live in the desert with a very arid climate. I would hate to think what would happen if you lived in a place with humidity or heaven forbid snow. I grew up with Schwinn and I am so disappointed with their product. My youngone loves-loves her bike and it is a great looking bike and rides smooth,we notice
we were constantly having to inflate the back tire.

Sometimes we would have to take her off and inflate then let her ride again. Finally the tire went flat and will not inflate again,she is very unhappy and so I am.

Took out the inter-tube but have been able to find hole but tube won't stay inflated.Need new tube,also handle tends to turn side ways.This a nice looking bike- and easy to ride bike but not a good buy.Get more detail about Schwinn Roadster 12-Inch Trike (Red).

Good looking trike but I'm taking this back to toysrus because my 2.5 year old son cannot get the thing up to speed due to its weight. He's a really strong sort of kid too, just bad design if you ask me. but I have to give it points for making it down three concrete steps w/out my son getting hurt.

Just want to say, had the store had a display unit there is no way I would have bought it. I was thinking of something really fun for my son like a big wheel... This is for beach cruising and not going fast and spinning out. I live in Seattle with hills and there's no way to get this thing going on the even slight uphill sidewalks.
